Shame on us, we haven’t found a restaurant in Alaska, where they haven't ruined the lovely fresh salmon by overcooking it resulting in a very dry piece of something.
So we bought some fresh salmon and prepared it according to a friends recipe - in the kitchen of the camper van - means it is really easy ;-)
The result was great. Much better than in any alaskan restaurant so far, sorry.
Interested?
So here's that fantastic recipe from our friend Ralf!

Grilled Salmon with herbs
300g Salmon (per person), skin on
1 clove of fresh (!) garlic, thinly sliced
1 pinch of brown sugar
Salt, Pepper
good Olive oil
2-3 sprigs of rosemary and thyme
some drops of fresh lime juice (optional)
Wash the salmon and check, if there are some bones left. If so, pull them out. Dry the fish and put it (skin down) into a basket of tin Aluminium foil.
Salt and pepper it. Also put the sugar on it, the sliced garlic and the herbs on top. Drizzle 2-3 tablespoons of olive oil on to the salmon and put it into the oven (or onto a barbecue, indirect heat). Around 200°C for about 20 minutes.
Take it out when the protein starts to show on the top of the salmon, don’t cook it too long!
You can then take the salmon off its skin using a spatula and serving it on plates. If you like, season it with some drops of fresh lemon and... Enjoy!
Sides could be fried green asparagus, pasta with a creamy truffle sauce or just some fresh bread.
Hope you love it as much as we do!! :-)
